$1,658 Blu-ray recorder allows one-touch PSP transfer

Sony is hoping that collaboration between Blu-ray and other technologies will help its growth, particularly embracing the growing consumer desire for media portability.

On April 30, Sony is scheduled to release new Blu- ray recorders in Japan that include one-touch transfer to the PlayStation Portable (PSP), as well as the Walkman and select mobile phones.

Priced at a hefty 170,000 yen ($1,658), the BDZ- A70 includes a 320GB internal drive, while the A90 version has a 500GB drive.

According to BetaNews, resolution of the transferred videos will be 320x240, and in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.
