HBO's new documentary "Citizen U.S.A.: A 50 State Road Trip" is such an unabashed love letter to the country that you almost expect fireworks to burst through the TV screen at the end.

Two very different detectives are returning to our screens. Three more episodes of BBC1's hit show Sherlock are going to be made with Benedict Cumberbatch playing an updated version of the fictional sleuth.

I must confess I am a huge fan of the infomercial. And by "the infomercial," I mean infomercials as a genre, and not just the Slap Chop's.

They are a true piece of Americana -- advertising as entertainment. I very rarely see commercials anymore, as I record virtually everything I watch on DVR and skip 'em.

But a good infomercial?
